Sherrie and David recently participated in the first annual FACE conference held in Coral Gables, Florida (Miami) November 8 – 11. It was held in the historic Biltmore Hotel that had recently undergone extensive renovation to its palatial interior. The Figurative Art Convention & Expo, the brainchild of Eric Rhoads, the founder of Fine Art Connoisseur, was a huge success according to heartfelt testimonies by many of its participants. Sherrie painted fellow artist John Buxton in an 18th century outfit and stressed composition as it relates to the idea, or concept in a painting. David had a full day starting with painting a female portrait where he examined edges. He also participated in a panel discussion with Jacob Collins and Juliette Aristides on what makes a work of art ‘great.’ And finally, there was a private screening of his new documentary, “David A Leffel: An American Master,” directed by George Gallo followed by an insightful interview by Peter Trippi, the Editor-In-Chief of Fine Art Connoisseur. As it was also David’s birthday, Eric presented him with a vegan cake and had a harpist come and play happy birthday as the crowd sang along and applauded. It was David’s best birthday yet!.
